Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to have acquired the following: Knowledge - Understanding of basic safety rules in aquatic environments, including pool and swimming facility safety. - Methods of teaching all swimming styles. - Ability to clearly and accurately describe swimming exercises. - Selection of appropriate preparatory exercises that facilitate the learning of swimming techniques. - Evaluation of whether a swimmer’s technique in each style complies with the latest regulations. Skills - Effective organization and management of the sport of swimming. - Identification of problems related to the teaching of swimming. - Design and evaluation of educational programs based on modern pedagogical approaches. - Guidance and management of groups of children, with an understanding of their emotional states. - Adequate knowledge of first aid. Abilities - Demonstration of techniques for all swimming styles. - Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in the context of swimming instruction. - Initiative in managing and organizing a swimming team. - Critical evaluation and adjustment of educational programs. - Development of creative thinking and adaptability to the demands of the sport of swimming.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Course Purpose and Description The aim of the course is to cultivate comprehensive knowledge regarding the learning of all swimming styles, as well as practical training in them. Special emphasis is placed on the didactic approach of the course, with a focus on continuous observation, identification, and correction of technical errors. The course is structured around both the theoretical presentation of swimming and its practical application, taking into account the pedagogical dimension of the educational process. The instructional structure of the course is divided into three sections: (a) the introductory section, which presents the properties of water, (b) the section concerning participant management during the learning process, and (c) the practical section, which includes the practical application of the full teaching material. Course Objectives The course aims to: - Present the properties of water and the behavior of bodies within it. - Organize safe lessons in swimming pools. - Offer a pedagogical approach to teaching swimming. - Enhance the swimming ability of the participants. Week – Content – Learning Outcomes Week 1 – Introduction. Properties of water. – Understanding the physical, mental, and psychological state of the participants and their response to water contact (Knowledge) Week 2 – Presentation of swimming learning areas. Exercise sets for different learning levels. Organization of lessons by level. – Knowledge and ability to create appropriate swimming learning levels based on different ages and swimming experience (Knowledge – Ability) Week 3 – Safety, health, and hygiene. – First aid. – Basic hygiene behavior rules (Knowledge – Skill – Ability) Week 4 – Teaching and methodology of competitive swimming instruction. Learning aids in swimming. – Recognition of participants' needs in swimming. – Familiarization with the water environment (Skill – Ability) Week 5 – Freestyle. Theoretical presentation and practical training – Mental representation of the stroke and its swimming execution (Knowledge – Skill) Week 6 – Backstroke. Theoretical presentation and practical training – Mental representation of the stroke and its swimming execution (Knowledge – Skill) Week 7 – Freestyle and backstroke. Practical training. Starts (Knowledge – Skill) Week 8 – Freestyle and backstroke. Practical training. Turns (Knowledge – Skill) Week 9 – Breaststroke. Theoretical presentation and practical training – Mental representation of the stroke and its swimming execution (Knowledge – Skill) Week 10 – Butterfly. Theoretical presentation and practical training – Mental representation of the stroke and its swimming execution (Knowledge – Skill) Week 11 – Breaststroke and butterfly. Practical training. Starts (Knowledge – Skill) Week 12 – Breaststroke and butterfly. Practical training. Turns (Knowledge – Skill) Week 13 – Swimming pool: Practice – Application of swimming techniques and feedback (Skill – Ability) Teaching Methods The course will be implemented through a set of active learning approaches, which will include: - Presentations via video projections and participatory classroom discussions. - Group work in small, interdisciplinary teams to promote collaborative learning. - Development of oral presentation skills through experiential classroom exercises. Learning Resources & Materials Students will have access to a variety of academic materials, primarily provided through the e-learning platform. This educational content will include: weekly study notes, suggested additional bibliography for further exploration, and selected studies related to the sport of swimming.

Description
Assessment Policy and Tools: Student evaluation will be conducted through the following methods, and the final grade will be calculated based on the weight of each form of assessment: - Methodical instruction in basic swimming techniques, as well as floating, submersion, and propulsion (30%). - Timed swimming in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke (50m), and butterfly (25m) (30%). - Written or oral examinations (40%) at the end of the semester. Learning Activities and Assignments: - Students will demonstrate their understanding and knowledge through active participation in class and practical field activities. Student Assessment Methods: - Written Examination with Multiple Choice Questions (Summative). - Oral Examination (Summative). - Other(s) (Summative).
