Learning Outcomes
Students will be expected upon the successive completion of the course: Το know the complete technique of speed and obstacle routes, long, high and short jumps and ball, disc, hammer and javelin throws.To acquire the basic techniques of athletics through experiential exercise with special exercises and methods of perfecting the movement as they are done in developmental and high performance sports. Τobe able to constructtraining programs for technical and physical abilities in the context of a long cycle for the championship. To design an individual training program of the Athletics competitions based on the new program design trends as it emerges from the literature. To plan and organize competitive sports activities in a school and clubs championship
Course Content (Syllabus)
Week 1. Relationship between fitness training and technique of track and field events. Contents within a Microcycle
Week 2: Development of Maximum Strength, forms of Strength and methods of developing maximum Strength, Speed and Strength Tolerance.
Week 3: Biomechanical analysis of the javelin throw. Learning and perfecting the Javelin technique
Week 4: Principles of training in high-level sports. Formation of a Macrocycle, concepts of a Mesocycle and a Microcycle
Week 5: Formation of a general Macrocycle, double periodization in individual events, differentiation from team events. Week 6: Mid-cycle Formation, Quantity and intensity of performance factors in speedways
Week 7: Mid-cycle Formation, Quantity and intensity of performance factors in Jumps, examples in the long and high jump
Week 8: Biomechanical analysis of the Hammer throw. Learning and perfecting the Hammer technique. Practical training in the special exercises of the event.
Week 9: Formation of a Special Microcycle, Examples in speedways and throws.
Week 10: Formation of a Special Microcycle, Examples in jumps and obstacle courses. Quantity and intensity of performance factors in the long jump and triple jump obstacle courses
Week 11: Formation of a Competition Microcycle, Examples in the high jump and discus throw. Quantity and intensity of performance factors in a competitive season.
Week 12: Formation of a Competition Microcycle, Examples in the 400m and 400m hurdles, differentiation in the Quantity and intensity of performance factors in a competitive season.Examples of microcycle design in the competitive season in the semi-endurance and endurance courses.
Week 13:New trends and research in training in classical sports. Periodicity models in developmental and high-performance sports
