Course Content (Syllabus)
The main topic of the course concerns the directionality of adnominal adjectives relative to the modified noun and also relative to one another if there are more than one adjective per noun phrase. This topic will be explored not only with emphasis on Greek but also with respect to other languages or language families (English, Romance). Issues concernng the syntax of adnominal adjectives are closely related to the ways adjective-noun combinations are interpreted, so in the class issues such as subcategories of adjectives (property denoting, intensional/extensional, absolute/non-absolute, subjective/objective), as well as semantic properties (restrictivity, intersectiveness, etc.) will also be brought to the forth.
