Course Content (Syllabus)
Chemical Formulas. Nomenclature. Atoms, molecules, ions. Structure of the atoms. Chemical bonds (ionic - covalent). Intramolecular interactions (hydrogen bonds, van der Waals forces). Matter, measurements and units in the chemical calculations. Stoichiometric calculations. Solutions and their properties. Acids - bases - salts. Chemical equilibrium. Chemical reactions: precipitation reactions, acids-bases reactions, redox reactions, hydrolysis. Buffer solutions. Dispersion systems: colloids and properties, Donnan equilibrium. Coordination compounds. Thermochemistry: 1st and 2nd law of Thermodynamics. Reaction kinetics. Catalysis. Free radical (photochemistry). Principles of spectrophotometry.
