Prerequisites
General Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry are required.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will learn from the perspective of medicinal chemistry about how metals interact with the biological systems, how to apply chelation therapy against metal intoxication, how platinum anticancer and gold antirheumatic drugs are synthesized and work. Also they will learn about the properties (physical and biological) and general applications of MRI contrast agents and diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals. At the same time students will learn from the perspective of medicinal chemistry about the role of hormone from chemical , biological and therapeutical point of view. Also they will learn the strategy for the design, synthesis and structure-activity relationships of synthetic analogs of hormones.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Work autonomously
  • Work in teams
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Advance free, creative and causative thinking
