Learning Outcomes
After the courses, students will be in touch with modern theories of social contract, they will be able to recognise the difference between the main political theories, they will know the basic elements of the political theories and they will be in position to use the main philosophical concepts concerning politics.

Course Content (Syllabus)
After a brief introduction to the history of the concept of social contract, the course presents a critical overview of social contract theories in modern political philosophy. Intellectual and theoretical currents are in turn contextualized in terms of contemporary political issues and conflicts.
