Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will know the basic principles of interpreting, the history of interpreting, the theoretical and interdisciplinary approaches in Interpretation Studies, the different kinds of interpreting and their demands. They will have acquired the basic skills in interpreting, i.e. text analysis, summarising texts, public speaking, note-taking in consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Basic principles of interpreting, history of interpreting, theoretical and interdisciplinary approaches in Interpretation Studies, the different kinds of interpreting and their demands. Basic skills in interpreting, i.e. text analysis, summarising texts, public speaking, note-taking, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting for beginners.

Continuous assessment resulting from compulsory course attendance (up to three absences) and active participation in class, weekly oral assignments, oral examination: 30% active participation, 30% weekly assignments, 40% final examination.
