Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students can:
-Identify the stages of formation of the central perceptions of the quality of life
-Analyze the main dimensions of quality-of-life studies
-Categorize the type of approaches that are developed regarding quality of life
-Evaluate the concerns and ethical dilemmas that arise in quality-of-life discussions
Course Content (Syllabus)
In the context of the course, the historical conditions that gradually forced the development of the stream of examination and analysis of the quality of life are presented. Extensive reference is also made to the equivalent terminology developed in this field, and the various aspects of the study of quality of life (social, political, economic, psychological, etc.) are examined. Cases of studies of the quality of life in specific population groups (disabled, children, young people, elderly) are then presented, as well as the effects of the relevant studies. The connection of related studies with Bioethics and the development of science and technology is also discussed. Finally, the positions of Christian teaching on issues related to the quality of life are presented
