Course Content (Syllabus)
Purpose of the course: The presentation of the basic principles and methodologies of the Science of Polymers. Synthetic polymers, synthesis, properties and characteristics. Use of the principles in the selection of suitable polymers for conservation applications of works of art and cultural monuments and in the study of their properties. In the second part, the above is specialized in natural polymers. Applications of synthetic and natural polymers in the laboratory: 1) Preparation of synthetic polymer 2) Isolation of natural polymer and preparation of plastic. Educational Objectives : Gaining experience in the selection of the appropriate polymeric materials when applying them to works of art.
