Course Content (Syllabus)
Theory and practice: In the first part, students practice systematic and structured observation based on video-taped lessons of German as a foreign language and the corresponding theories. They also make their own suggestions for lesson planning. In this way they are adequately prepared and become able to systematically use their observations for lesson analysis in authentic classrooms during their Teaching Practice in educational institutions. Teaching Practice: In the second part, students observe German lessons in small groups and teach in classrooms in public and private schools under the supervision of experienced German teachers. During the observation, they analyze the lesson based on the observation criteria they have elaborated in Teaching I, II and III. They then prepare (in both public and private schools) their own proposals for a teaching unit and teach it in the classrooms where they have observed lessons. They report their experiences from both their preparation at the University and their Practicum in writing at the end of the semester. In this written work, reflection on their learning process is also important.
