Course Content (Syllabus)
This academic course concerns mainly the autobiographical novel of the latest 20th century. The syllabus contains a brief presentation of the evolution and characteristics of traditional autobiography, as well as certain issues about literary themes and style. The main objective of the course is to examine some characteristics of modern autobiography, such as “autofiction” and “autoreflexion”. For this purpose, the course is based upon various comparative studies, but focuses on Alain Robbe-Grillet’s autobiographical Trilogy entitled “Les Romanesques” and Marguerite Duras’s novel, "The Lover".
