MEDIA AND DIVERSITY IN EUROPE

Το μάθημα επιδιώκει να εισαγάγει τους φοιτητές στην έννοια της πολιτισμικής και κοινωνικής ποικιλομορφίας και να αναλύσει το ρόλο που μπορούν να διαδραματίσουν τα μέσα ενημέρωσης/δημοσιογράφοι στην κοινωνική κατασκευή, αναπαράσταση και κατανόηση της διαφορετικότητας και της ποικιλομορφίας. Επικεντρώνεται σε θέματα μετανάστευσης, φυλής και εθνικότητας, πίστης και θρησκείας, φύλου, σεξουαλικότητας, ηλικίας και αναπηρίας και στον τρόπο με τον οποίο τα θέματα αυτά απεικονίζονται από τα παραδοσιακά και τα νέα μέσα ενημέρωσης. Εξοπλίζει επίσης τους σπουδαστές με πρακτικές δεξιότητες που θα τους επιτρέψουν να παράγουν ένα προϊόν μέσων ενημέρωσης (ένα ιστολόγιο) για ένα θέμα που σχετίζεται με την κοινωνική και πολιτιστική ποικιλομορφία.

Συμμετοχή 20% του τελικού βαθμού. Οι προφορικές συνεισφορές και η συμμετοχή όλων των μαθητών είναι απαραίτητες. Αναμένεται από τους φοιτητές να κάνουν τα απαιτούμενα αναγνώσματα πριν από τα μαθήματα και να συμμετέχουν ενεργά στις ομαδικές συζητήσεις. Ερευνητική εργασία 80% του τελικού βαθμού. Οι μαθητές θα συντάξουν μια ερευνητική εργασία (περίπου 5.000 λέξεις, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των παραπομπών/υποσημειώσεων). Η βιβλιογραφία θα προτείνεται και αν είναι δυνατόν θα παρέχεται από τον διδάσκοντα. Οι φοιτητές μπορούν να συζητήσουν και να συμφωνήσουν με τον καθηγητή τους για ένα συγκεκριμένο θέμα που θα ήθελαν να ερευνήσουν/γράψουν (οι πηγές και η βιβλιογραφία θα παρέχονται από τον διδάσκοντα)
