In June 1991, I obtained the license to practice “Ophthalmology” in Germany. This title was recognized in Greece (31.12.1991). After the Residency training I stayed in Germany for one additional year. During that period I was specialized in the novel technique of Phacoemulsification, while my research interest that period was Intraocular Lens (IOL’s) design.
In June 1992, MD Thesis at Munich University entitled: “Retrospective Data analysis of Cataract surgery with Phacoemulsification.”
In August 1992, I returned to Greece and joined the Greek Army.
➢ November 1993-February 1995: Rural service as a General Practitioner.
➢ April 1995-September 2002 I was employed in the Komotini General Hospital in Ophthalmology Department. (1995-2000: Consultant B’, 2000-2002: Consultant A’)
➢ April 2004: I was elected Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the Medical School of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (unanimously among 5 candidates)
➢ April 2004 till present: I am working and teaching at the 2nd University Eye Department, Papageorgiou Hospital, (Head: Prof. S.A. Dimitrakos).
➢ February 2010: I was elected Assistant Professor (unanimously)
➢ July 2014: Assistant Professor (substantive post)
